2022 Olympic Games. ROC - Switzerland. A statistical look

We take a look at the statistics to emerge from the 2022 Olympic Games match between ROC and Switzerland (1:0) in the group phase:

- For the first time in history, our national team got an Olympic campaign off to a winning start without conceding a single goal;

- This became the third occasion when our country won 1:0 in regulation time at the Olympics. Previously, this particular scoreline had been recorded against the Czech Republic (20 February 2002) and Kazakhstan (18 February 2006);

- At the age of 21 years, four months and seven days, Alexander Nikishin became the youngest defenseman to play for our national team at the Olympics;

- Ivan Fedotov became the sixth goalkeeper to record a shutout on his Olympic debut, following in the footsteps of Evgeny Yorkin (1960), Boris Zaitsev (1964), Viktor Zinger (1968), Sergei Mylnikov (1988) and Evgeny Nabokov (2006);

- In 15 appearances for the senior national team, forward Kirill Semyonov has tallied five (1+4) points.
