15.03.2026
Yuri Pantyukhov, known as one of the bravest players in the history of the Soviet national team, would today have turned 95 years of age.
While representing the USSR on the international scene, Yuri notably became an Olympic champion in 1956 and twice became a silver medalist of the World Championship.
Furthermore, he stood out at the 1957 edition of the latter competition by scoring seven goals across just six games.
Yuri did subsequently turn his hand to coaching following the completion of his playing career. However, he sadly passed away at the age of 51.
