New project for young ice hockey players and their parents

05.03.2026
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation can reveal that a new project named "Little Hockey" has been created for the benefit of young ice hockey players, parents and coaches.

The goal of the project is to explain the nuances of ice hockey's rules and regulations in an accessible and engaging manner, consequently helping children to play the game with confidence.

Ice hockey is a dynamic, physical sport which requires everyone involved - not just the referees - to have a competent knowledge of how the game should be played safely. When understanding nuances, players are better equipped to make the right decisions and avoid committing unnecessary fouls.

Simple and clear explanations of rules, illustrations and examples of game situations and answers to frequently asked questions are all featured in the project. All material was put together with the participation of current referees and specialists, with vivid illustrations provided by artist Vitaly Scherbak.
