Vladislav Tretiak attended a match dedicated to the Defenders of the Fatherland

Vladislav Tretiak, the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF), attended an All-Russian Hockey League (VHL) match between Tambov and Buran Voronezh during his time in the host city.
Tretiak spoke at the opening ceremony of the game, which was held in support of the Defenders of the Fatherland. Furthermore, he also spoke with both sets of players in the dressing room following the match's completion.
A key part of Tretiak's trip was his meeting with Alexander Malin, the Chairman of the Tambov Region Ice Hockey Federation, and Andrei Tapilsky, the Director of Tambov Hockey Club. Issues concerning the development of the RIHF's cooperation and interaction with local ice hockey governing bodies were discussed.
RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:
"The VHL serves as a wonderful pool of talent! Plenty of high-quality players are developing and progressing here. The level of ice hockey is constantly improving, thanks in part to the efforts applied by cities such as Tambov. We're always happy to share our experiences and implement joint projects which consequently result in players and coaches developing accordingly.
"The RIHF provides comprehensive support to the regions. I'm pleased that Tambov Region demonstrates a competent approach, enthusiasm and a real desire for achieving sporting success. This region contains an effective tournament system for all categories of players such as professionals, children and amateurs. We have ample scope for joint cooperation!"
And, of course, it was particularly nice to congratulate everyone here with the Defender of the Fatherland Day celebration! I myself came from a military background, completing my national service with CSKA Moscow. For me, this day is always really important. We must respect military personell of all generations who are prepared to defend our nation. On this day, we pay tribute to the patriotism, bravery and dedicated displayed by our defenders. We wish them all health, happiness and victory! Our beloved sport of ice hockey unites us both on 23 February and all year round."
