Vladislav Tretiak attended an ice hockey event in Moscow
14.03.2026
A large-scale ice hockey celebration took place today at the Sporting Glory Alley in Moscow.
The event's main guest was Vladislav Tretiak, the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF). He ceremoniously unveiled a memorial installation dedicated to the legendary goaltender and the greatest player in world hockey history. The three-time Olympic champion also spoke with young players representing Moscow's ice hockey academies, while dishing out autographs for everyone in attendance.

RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:
"The sculpture resembles me! But, of course, it symbolises everything great about Russian goalkeeping. From Puchkov, who was the best in the world in the 1950s, and Konovalenko, whom I dreamed of being like as a child, to the heroes of today's generation, who demonstrated magnificent play in the national team jersey and made a huge contribution to the Russian national team's victories at the Olympics and World Championships.
"I would like to thank the Moscow Sporting Committee and the Vorobyovy Gory Sports Complex for organising this wonderful festival. Because our victories are more than just a glorious legacy of past years. They are a bridge to the future, an example for young people. I talk to young players and see the desire burning in their eyes, the sincere inspiration they receive from the heroes of previous Olympics, World Championships, and Super Series. These boys began engaging in ice hockey thanks to victories; they watch highlights of the best matches of the past, wanting to be like their idols from the 1970s, 1980s and 2000s.
"That's why promoting our great heritage is so important, and that's why we make special efforts in this area. Using the examples of legendary champions, we are raising a new generation of true patriots. Even if they don't become professionals, they will be courageous, brave citizens. Capable of respecting their teammates, listening to their coach and giving their all in the interests of the team. And, most importantly, loving their country and being ready to defend its interests wherever required. On or off the ice. We wish our country victory everywhere and in everything. And that's why the educational role of our sport is especially important. The RIHF places great emphasis on working for the future, laying the foundations for future success. This includes building rinks, educating coaches, introducing innovations into the educational and training process and creating new opportunities for young players to develop."
