A meeting took place between the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) Vladislav Tretiak and the Head of the Republic of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov in Moscow.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of ice hockey in the region, the increasing of cooperation in the field of preparing the sporting reserve, education for coaches, the organisation of youth tournaments and the introduction of innovation projects developed by the RIHF for working with players.
Brechalov also invited Tretiak to attend the grand opening of a new ice rink which is currently being constructed in Sarapul.
President of the RIHF Vladislav Tretiak:
- I'm glad that Alexander Brechalov is paying serious attention not only to professional ice hockey, but also to the development of our sport at youth level. Alongside teams in the VHL and NMHL, almost 4,000 children are involved in the sport with tournaments regularly being staged. The Red Machine National Development Program, developed for children between the ages of 5 and 17, is allowing us to use innovative methods for coaching the players of the future. Furthermore, the RIHF also possesses effective coaching programs for coaches, referees and other ice hockey specialists. We are looking forward to sharing these developments with the Republic of Udmurtia.
Recently, thanks to the efforts of Alexander Brechalov, the Izhstal ice hockey club in Izhevsk has been strengthened, opportunities have been created to invite strong players and ambitious goals have been set for the team in the VHL. A large-scale reconstruction of the region's main arena in Izhevsk is underway, while a new modern venue is being constructed in Sarapul. This will assist the popularisation and accessibility of ice hockey.
