2017 Winter Universiade. Semi-final. Russia - Canada - 4:1
The Russian men's student national team competed in the 2017 Winter Universiade semi-final against Canada. Head coach Vladislav Khromykh opted not to make any serious changes to the roster, keeping Ilya Andryukhov in net.
With both teams having won all of their matches coming into this fixture, it promised to be a tight battle. Nevertheless, Russia, slight favourites, took the game by the scruff of its neck, scoring twice in the opening two periods through Stanislav Zabornikov and Artyom Osipov.
Holding a two goal lead, Russia put the game to bed late on in the third. Andrei Erofeev and Ivan Ivanov netted further markers, and despite Canada ruining Ilya Andryukhov's shutout with fifteen seconds on the clock, Russia calmly saw the game out to win 4:1! The team will play either Kazakhstan or the Czech Republic in tomorrow's final, which is scheduled to begin at 12:00 Moscow time.
