Russia M are the 2017 Winter Universiade champions

08.02.2017

On the 8th of February, Vladislav Khromykh's Russian men's student national team took on hosts Kazakhstan in the 2017 Winter Universiade final. Following the confident semi-final beating of Canada, there were no changes made to the line-up. Goalkeeper Ilya Andryukhov was between the pipes.

Despite not being one of ice hockey's heavyweights, Kazakhstan consistently perform well on student level, losing out to Russia in the 2015 final. Fortunately, history repeated itself today. It was a tight battle throughout the entire game, but one minute into the third period, Russia's Daniil Ilin scored the only goal to give Russia a 1:0 triumph! The team have become the 2017 Winter Universiade champions.

Match protocol:

Kazakhstan - Russia - 0:1 (0:0, 0:0, 0:1)

Goals:

0:1 Ilin, 41.32

Goalkeepers: Kudryatsev - Andryukhov

Shots on target: 21 - 35

Penalty minutes: 8 - 14
