This is only the second time when our players have not conceded a goal against the Americans at the Olympic Games. The first came back on the 3rd of February 1956 (4:0).

Taking into account matches from 1994, Ilya Kovalchuk is now our team's top scorer at the Olympic Games with 13 goals, two more than Pavel Bure. 

Vasily Koshechkin is the first goalkeeper in modern history to earn ten shutouts with our team. It has taken him 54 matches to reach this landmark.

Both Pavel Datsyuk and Ilya Kovalchuk have taken part in the previous five meetings between these teams at the Olympic Games.
