Russia helps Kyrgyzstan achieve notable success!

29.05.2025
The national team representing Kyrgyzstan won five out of five matches in April 2025 to historically qualify for the IIIA Division of the World Championship!

This is indeed Kyrgyzstan's third promotion in only four years. Furthermore, Russia has greatly contributed to the Kyrgyz success, with honoured Russian specialist Mikhail Chekanov having coached the team since 2020.

The memorandum between the Russian Ice Hockey Federation and the Kyrgyz Ice Hockey Federation provides support in developing the coaching staff, methodological base and educational programs.

Kyrgyzstan breezed through the entire tournament in Istanbul without suffering a single defeat, registering an impressive goal difference of 27-5. Islambek Abdyraev became the best forward of the tournament, while Kuzma Terentyev was named the best defenseman. Two Kyrgyz players were among the leading three competition scorers.
