Russia U20 Whites reaction after the first match of the Black Sea Cup

25.05.2022
Following the 3:0 victory against the under 20 Belarusian national team in the maiden game of the 2022 Black Sea Cup, Russia U20 Whites head coach Sergei Zubov and forward Vyacheslav Malov shared their emotions.
Russia U20 Whites head coach Sergei Zubov:
- The guys were a bit nervous at first, it took them longer than we expected to settle into proceedings. However, we were excellent in the second period, scoring on the man-advantage and killing a 3-on-5 Belarusian powerplay. The players continued playing well in the third frame. Our team should have enough energy for this tournament, we mainly focused on tactics when training in Novogorsk. This is a chance for the players to display their potential.
Russia U20 Whites forward Vyacheslav Malov:
- We tried to play as a united team. Overall, it went well. We had trouble on the powerplay in the first period, we didn't know how the Belarusians were going to play shorthanded. We started shooting more in the second and the goals arrived. This is an important competition for us, as it is an opportunity to show our talent and earn a place in the national team for future tournaments. I am trying to play my best ice hockey.
