Ilya Vorobyov: "Austria have quite a fast team"

11.05.2019
Head coach of the senior Russian national team, Ilya Vorobyov, shared his thoughts ahead of playing Austria in the second match of the 2019 IIHF World Championship:

- We will decide whether to register either Artyom Zub or Artyom Blazhievskiy for competition action in the coming days. We will register Ivan Telegin today so that he can be in the dressing room tomorrow. Will he play? We're still thinking about that. Nikita Zadorov will arrive tomorrow morning, he's received his visa. Artemiy Panarin? We spoke to him. He has done a lot for the national team. However, at the moment, he is without a contract and our squad is full. Nevertheless, the doors are always open for him. Alexander Georgiev will be the starting goaltender with Ilya Sorokin the back-up. Are the NHL players still adapting to the European game? This is an important factor. They have said themselves that the teams play differently and the ice is bigger. Austria? I saw their friendly match against Canada. They tried to soak up pressure and play on the counterattack. The Austrians have quite a fast team and they held on for almost two periods.
