Valery Bragin: "The attack worries me, but we have reserves"
After the Russia U20 - Denmark U20 (2:1 OT) friendly match, Russia's head coach and players shared their thoughts:
Russia U20 head coach Valery Bragin:
- With six players having joined us, our main task is to decide on our final tournament roster. We gave a rest to players who are sure to be in the squad.
- Has this match helped you to make your decision?
- I can't make conclusions right after the game. We'll look back at the game and see what we think. Some moments require a second look.
- In Novogorsk, you failed to score against SKA Saint Petersburg, and today you only scored one in regulation. Does this worry you?
- Yes, the attack really worries me. However, we have reserves. We should play with more aggression, the players will begin to understand each other better.
- Are you still happy to win this match?
- You always play to win, it's important to win. It was good to have a go at playing three on three overtime.
Russia U20 forward Denis Guryanov:
- Denmark have a good team which can cause problems for any opponent.
- At the previous two World Championships, Russia have failed to beat Denmark in regulation. What difficulties did you face today?
- The majority of the guys have just made the trip from Russia, they had a tough training camp there. There's the time difference factor too. The players who play in the Canadian leagues don't have enough mutual understanding yet. Nevertheless, the main thing is that we won in the end. We will keep working.
- One of the team's five lines won't travel to the World Championship. Do you feel the pressure?
- When you play, you don't think about those things. You try to follow the game plan and win.
