Official RIHF statement
27.05.2022
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) does not agree with the decision to freeze the participation of the senior Russian national team at the 2023 World Championship, which was made by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) at the Semi-Annual Congress. This is because there are no legal grounds for this decision to be made.
The RIHF notes that the appeals which were submitted to the IIHF’s Disciplinary Committee with the target of overturning the exclusion of Russia from international competitions and the returning of the rights to stage the 2023 World Junior Championship and the senior 2023 World Championship will only be considered on June 15. All RIHF statements with regard to the IIHF’s decisions will be made after the decisions of the Disciplinary Committee.
