According to IIHF regulations, 23 players (three goaltenders, 20 skaters) can be included in the final squad for the 2019 World Junior Championship. A minimum of 17 players (two goaltenders, 15 skaters) must be put in the roster ahead of the competition's start. Teams can add players to their respective squads as the tournament progresses.
Russia U20 head coach Valery Bragin:
- There is plenty of competition this year, so it was tough to pick the squad. After carefully analysing each tournament played during the season, we decided to pick these particular players. Yes, injuries affected some players, but we are still capable of playing for the highest honours. We have data concerning all of our opponents at the World Junior Championship. The Super Series in November is very important for the players to gain international experience and we won that series for the first time since 2014.
