Youth Olympic Games. Russia U16 - Norway U16 - 13:1

16.02.2016

The 2016 Youth Olympic Games continued for the under 16 Russian national team today against the tournament hosts Norway.

Our players were huge favourites coming into this game, and they made sure of their advantage immediately. Vladimir Zhabreyev scored a quick fire double, and Andrei Svechnikov added with two goals of his own in the first period.

Russia kept on pressurizing in the second, and the Norwegians couldn't cope at all. Vladimir Zhabreyev completed his hat trick shorthanded, Maxim Denezhkin poked the puck over the goal line on a goalmouth scramble, and Andrei Svechnikov practically made the game safe.

It was a foregone conclusion heading into the third frame, however Norway got on the board early on in the stanza. That marker helped Russia re-focus, and Alexander Khovanov notched the eighth up close. The floodgates really opened after that, and Grigory Denisenko (2), Kirill Nizhnikov, Andrei Svechnikov and Yegor Sokolov completed the scoring to make it a thumping 13:1 Russian win!
