Reaction after the opening match of the Liga Stavok Cup of the Future
03.11.2023
Interviews were taken following the maiden game of the Liga Stavok Cup of the Future between Russia U18 and Belarus U20 in Saint Petersburg.
Russia U18 head coach Alexander Titov:
- We weren't ourselves in the first period. However, starting from the second, we did begin to create opportunities in attack. Overall, I would say that the final score doesn't reflect the flow of the match.
Belarus U20 head coach Andrei Stas:
- I would also agree that the score doesn't reflect the difficulty of the game. We're lucky that we didn't concede more goals, we must give credit to our goaltender who made the decisive saves for us. To be honest, I'm not satisfied with the quality of our performance, but we have to take into consideration that we only held a couple of training sessions prior to the match.
Russia U18 forward Alexander Shen:
- We tallied 35 shots on target, competed on the PP four times, but we were found lacking in front of goal. We must compete with cooler heads when presented with scoring opportunities. Naturally, it's tough competing against players two years older than us, they're physically stronger. My goal? I blocked a shot and subsequently managed to skate through 1-on-1. Kazakhstan? We know them well, a lot of their players represent Snezhnye Barsy in the MHL.
