Vladislav Tretiak will participate in the grand opening of the Akhmat Ice Arena

The grand opening of the Akhmat Ice Arena will today take place in Grozny, the Republic of Chechnya.

In the upcoming season, the stadium will form the home venue for Akhmat-Granit, the first professional ice hockey team in the history of the Chechen Republic. The club has indeed joined the Russian Hockey League.

The opening ceremony program includes the presentation of the Akhmat-Granit youth team, an exhibition match between the main team and a Student Hockey League select team and an amateur hockey tournament.

Vladislav Tretiak, the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, will be the ceremony's guest of honour. The three-time Olympic champion and ten-time world champion is currently in Grozny on a working visit.
