Vladislav Firstov and Matvey Guskov speak about the Sochi Hockey Open
08.08.2020
Vladislav Firstov and Matvey Guskov, both forwards of the under 20 Russian Olympic team, spoke to the press after completing the 2020 Sochi Hockey Open undefeated.
Forward Vladislav Firstov:
- I think that we stuck to the coach's game plan and performed well at the competition. Our job was to get used to playing in new combinations, playing as a united team. All of us had the chance to play with one another. Yes, we didn't play well in the closing stages of the third match, but asides from the blip we were strong. Igor Larionov said to us today that the performance was more important than the result. Now we will return to our respective teams, for some the season will begin in September, for others it will start in December.
Forward Matvey Guskov:
- It was an excellent tournament, I would like to thank its organisers. I think that we played really well as a team at the competition, enjoying ourselves and gaining experience at the same time. Now our task is to continue working hard so that we're ready at any moment to begin playing for the national team again.
