Vladislav Tretiak visited the 'Hockey Spanning 80 Years' festival

A major sporting and music festival titled 'Hockey Spanning 80 Years' took place in Moscow with the participation of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF).

One of the event's most distinguished guests was Vladislav Tretiak. The legendary goaltender spoke at the opening ceremony, visited the exhibition and interacted with those in attendance. Everyone also had the opportunity to participate in an autograph and photo session with the RIHF President.

"This really is a fantastic event with representatives of all generations here to enjoy it!

"Hockey is our national pride, a vital part of Russian identity and a sporting symbol of our country. It embodies the winning traditions of our great nation: our ability to be first in everything and everywhere, and to achieve things which other countries cannot. Russian hockey has a magnificent history. The USSR national team was the most successful team in history, winning seven Olympic gold medals and 22 World Championship titles. Furthermore, we proved that the Canadians aren't invincible in the 1972 Super Series. The Russian national team has also enjoyed great success, including the triumphant 2018 Olympic Games and four World Championship gold medals in the six-year span between 2008 and 2014. The leading goalkeepers in the world right now are Russian, while the best player of the 21st century is our forward, Alexander Ovechkin.

"We are rightfully proud of our past and our heroes. Our stars across generations have been among the greatest athletes, the best in the world in their respective roles. It is no coincidence that, for decades, our team has defeated the toughest opponents at the planet’s most prestigious tournaments. And, as we mark the 80th anniversary of Russian ice hockey, we continue to look to the future.



"That's why it is so important to share the story of our hockey achievements. After all, these successes belong to Russia; they inspire people to lead healthy lives, engage in sport and strive for more. By visiting the museum, the festival's guests will see how our triumphs were achieved. Through master classes and meetings with renowned champions, they will learn what it takes to be the best in the field. I would like to highlight the important work undertaken by the Dynamo production centre, led by Mikhail Tyurkin. They have played a major role in making this festival such a wonderful event, consistently promoting our hockey triumphs and producing films which chronicle our glorious history.
