The Channel One Cup got started in Saint Petersburg with a 3:1 victory for Belarus against Kazakhstan.

The Kazakhs initially held a one-goal advantage for the best part of 40 minutes, but the Belarusians struck back with three unanswered markers - two of them coming from Vitaly Pinchuk - to earn the two points.

Belarus will indeed be Russia's second opponents at the competition on Saturday, before Kazakhstan subsequently face our team a day later.
