In the penultimate game of the Liga Stavok Big National Team Tour, Russia 25 just came up short in a hotly contested duel against Belarus, losing 2:3 in Minsk.

After initially falling behind, our players opened up a one-goal lead thanks to quickfire markers from SKA Saint Petersburg pair Nikolai Polyakov and Andrei Pedan in the second stanza.

However, Vadim Moroz hauled the Belarusians level in the 37th minute, before Dinamo Minsk teammate Roman Gorbunov netted the winner on the powerplay with nine minutes remaining in the third frame.

Russian goaltender Dmitry Nikolaev stopped 17 of the 20 Belarusian shots he faced.

Tomorrow, at 19:10 Moscow time, the concluding match of the series between the two sides will take place in the Belarusian capital.
