26.04.2018
In Helsinki, the senior Russian national team fell to Finland 2:3 in a penalty shootout.

Russia opened the scoring in the first period, with HC Ak Bars Kazan forward Stanislav Galiev hitting the target. However, hosts Finland slowly grew into proceedings, equalising in the second stanza when Juuso Puustinen got the better of Russian goaltender Vasily Koshechkin.

Toni Rajala gifted the Finns their maiden lead of the match early in the third period, however our players would come from behind to save the match. Alexander Barabanov was the hero, batting the loose puck over the line with only four minutes remaining.
