The RIHF held seminars and master classes at the Red Machine Arctic school

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation implemented a series of practical and theoretical training sessions for coaches and specialists at the Red Machine Arctic Ice Hockey School.
The coaching seminars and master classes provided a full cycle of intensive practical work, interaction, exchange of opinions and effective communication.
Participating in the seminar were specialists who work daily with young ice hockey players. The program combined coaching sessions and master classes for children aged from 8 to 10, with on-ice sessions and exercises organised during the day before theory lessons were held in the evening.
The emphasis during on-ice sessions was put on skating technique.
A separate section was devoted to the personal development and teaching skills of coaches. They discussed how a good mentor is not only a methodologist, but also someone who can:
- develop their own working philosophy and explain it to children and parents in simple terms;
- build trust within the team, listen to the child and recognise their efforts;
- maintain a work-life balance, care for childrens' health and stress resilience.
The professional, substantive portion of the seminar focused on on-ice training methods, namely how to structure the sequence of technique development, when to move from simple to complex elements, and what exactly we're working on today and why. The discussion focused on small game formats, quick decision-making, simple one-on-one interaction models and the coach's effective distribution of attention.
It's important that the discussion included avoiding information overloads, how to promote progress and techniques of praising effort, not just positive results.

The Red Machine Arctic Ice Hockey School is continuing to implement the Red Machine National Development Program. This seminar formed a continuation of this systematic work, where each new session builds coaches' confidence and gives children another step forward.
The National Hockey Player Development Program consists of a set of modern methods which are currently being implemented in ice hockey academies across the country with the support and cooperation of Nornickel.
