The Museum of Plastic Figures has opened at Moscow's Zaryadye Park.

The project is shaped around sculptures of prominent figures from Russian history. Its Hall of Fame features images of famous people who shaped the identity of the Russian people over the years: statesmen, scientists, military leaders, cosmonauts and cultural figures. One of the main exhibits is a statue of Vladislav Tretiak, a three-time Olympic champion, ten-time world champion and the current President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF).

Tretiak was a VIP guest at the ceremony where he delivered a speech in honour of the museum's opening.

RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:

"For 80 years, ice hockey has been a source of national pride. Along with science, culture and cosmonautics, hockey embodies the diverse talents of our remarkable people, their aspirations, ingenuity and ability to do what no other country in the world can do. Our success on the ice is a vital element of our national identity!

"The sculpture is superbly executed, with a stunning likeness and meticulous attention to detail, depicting the equipment used by goalkeepers during the 1970s. It's a huge honour to be in the company of great statesmen, scientists, writers and military leaders.

"However, this sculpture of Vladislav Tretiak represents not only me, but our entire team which for decades was the best in the world. Our national side defeated the strongest possible opponents while tasting glory at the Olympic Games, World Championship and Canada Cup."
