Channel One Cup. Russia 25 - Belarus - 5:3

In the second match of the 2023 Channel One Cup, Russia 25 overpowered the senior Belarusian national team, outlasting the opponents to earn a dramatic 5:3 triumph.

Despite trailing with less than four minutes to go, two powerplay markers from Alexander Nikishin and Sergei Tolchinsky suddenly put Russia in the lead for the first time in the game.

Seconds after conceding their fourth, Belarus did opt to pull their goalkeeper for the extra skater, but that only resulted in Ilya Safonov hitting the empty net.

Initially, Stepan Falkovsky, Roman Gorbunov and Vadim Moroz had struck for the Belarusians, while Nikita Grebyonkin and Vasily Glotov had struck for our team.

Tomorrow, at 15:00 local time, the final match of the competition against Kazakhstan in Saint Petersburg.
