HC Tornado have become nine time Russian champions

On the 12th of March 2017, HC Tornado won their final WHL season game against Arktik-Universitet 9:1 in Dmitrov. However, well before that game, Tornado had been crowned Russian champions for the ninth time.

After the game's completion, Tornado's players were presented with their medals and WHL trophy. Anna Shokhina, who picked up 81 points in just 36 games, was given the title of WHL top scorer and Nina Pirogova was named the best defender. Dynamo Saint Petersburg goalkeeper Maria Sorokina was the best player for her position. The top coach was Tornado's Alexei Chistyakov, who also manages the Russian women's national team.

Agidel Ufa became the Russian championship silver medalists, while Dynamo Saint Petersburg took bronze. Overall, 126 matches took place this WHL season.
