Sergei Golubovich: "The players showed desire"

30.03.2017

Russia U18 head coach Sergei Golubovich:

- Today, we looked at the players which we wanted to see. We want some of those players to play in the second friendly match on the 2nd of April. If we look at the positive aspects, I liked the desire and commitment which the majority of the players showed. Some players will be sent home after this game. I won't say who is going, but I will tell the players later.

Russia U18 forward Leonid Nikolenko:

- We took a long time getting into the game today. Having been training for a long time, it was nice to get playing a match and show what we are made of. Chances in the third period? The coaches told us where to improve and we managed to create opportunities.

How did I score? Pavel Shen got the puck out of our zone, I made a combination play with Grigory Groshev, it was an odd man rush, I held possession, moved to the centre and scored. I don't think that the players were tired, we were ready. Everyone played with desire, but Russia U20 were stronger than us.
