World Championship. Russia U18 - Sweden U18

23.04.2017

On April 23rd, the under 18 Russian national team will face Sweden in the World Championship third place playoff.

Despite dominating long periods of the semi-final against Finland, Russia U18 fell short by losing 1:2 in overtime, Kirill Slepets had equalised in regulation, but after missing several golden opportunities, the Finns struck with only three minutes remaining in the extra frame.

Sweden met a similar fate in their semi-final fixture, dropping a disappointing overtime loss to the USA. In the previous stage, the Swedes have surprisingly thrashed Canada 7:3.

These two teams met in the group stage, as Russia claimed a 3:1 victory.

Puck drop is scheduled for 16:30 Moscow time. Match-Arena will broadcast live in Russia.
