A coaching seminar and master class led by Roman Rotenberg took place

Experts from the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) held a seminar in Krasnoyarsk for coaches, focusing on the workings of the Red Machine National Development Program.

Ensuring that coaches are sufficiently educated is one of the key areas of a collaborative initiative agreed upon in September by Roman Rotenberg, the First Vice President of the RIHF and Russia 25 head coach, and Mikhail Kotyukov, the Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai. The parties outlined steps to develop youth and amateur hockey, while also agreeing to implement a unified player development system in the region.

The seminar was attended by coaches from youth hockey schools in Krasnoyarsk Krai, as well as Pavel Levashov, the head coach of the Red Machine Junior Academy. The program combined methodological sessions with practical work, the analysis of specific drills and discussions concerning the planning of the training process. This format allowed participants to observe how the proposed approaches are applied when working with young players, evaluate the execution of tasks and address any questions with RIHF specialists.

Part of the program focused on personal development and the pedagogical expertise of the mentors. Participants discussed how to shape their own professional philosophy and articulate it clearly to children and parents, how to build trust within a team and how to truly listen to a child and recognise their efforts.

Andrei Ivanov and Vadim Krasnoslabodtsev, specialists in the implementation of the Red Machine National Development Program, conducted a general physical conditioning session for young players. The packed program concluded with an on-ice master class led by Roman Rotenberg for players of the Rassvet hockey academy.

The master class program included exercises based on the training principles and elements used by highly successful players, including drills practiced by Nikita Kucherov and Mikhail Sergachyov. These techniques have been adapted for young hockey players, taking into account their respective ages and skill levels. Moreover, the master class also featured 2018 Olympic champions Andrei Zubarev and Ilya Kablukov.
