01.05.2021
Today, on May 1, the senior Russian national team will face Switzerland on the road in the second of two planned 2020/2021 Euro Hockey Challenge matches.
In the first game, our players conceded a 1:3 defeat, with forward Evgeny Timkin scoring our only goal during the second period. Goalkeeper Alexander Samonov stopped 25 of the 28 shots which he faced.
"We are continuing to prepare for the World Championship, we're working hard," stated Russian head coach Valeri Bragin after the match ended. "The opponents moved well on the ice, it was clear that they're fresher than us. We didn't play well enough throughout the match. Nevertheless, at the same time, we did create a number of opportunities to score."
Puck-drop is scheduled for 18:45 Moscow time. Match TV will provide a live television broadcast in Russia.
