2019 World Championship. Russia - Austria - 5:0

12.05.2019
In the second match of the 2019 IIHF World Championship, the senior Russian national team proved too strong for Austria, claiming a thumping 5:0 victory in Bratislava, Slovakia.

After a slow start, Evgeny Dadonov got Russia on the board in the 13th minute, lashing a powerful one timer into the net from the high slot after the Austrians had contrived to take a penalty.

The Russians had to wait a long time for the second, but after Nikita Kucherov eventually doubled lead late in the second frame, competition debutant Ivan Telegin promptly made it 3:0 with 40 minutes in the books. In the concluding period, Evgeny Dadonov and Ilya Kovalchuk hit the target, sealing a confident 5:0 victory!

Goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev stopped all 15 shots he faced to tally a well-deserved shutout.

Russia will now prepare to play the Czech Republic on Monday.
