CIBC Canada Russia Series. WHL - Russia U20 - 2:1

In the first match of the 2018 CIBC Canada Russia Series, the under 20 Russian national team failed to get off to a positive start, falling 1:2 to the Western Hockey League.

For just the third time in history, Russia outshot the WHL (28-23), but that wasn't enough to pick up a win. In the first period, Pavel Shen promptly cancelled out an early opener from Dylan Cozens, however a third frame marker netted by Jordy Bellerive won the match for the WHL.
