24.05.2026
The first final of the Moscow Cup for special hockey took place at the Sokolniki Sports Palace in Moscow.
The tournament, which features children with various mental disabilities, was organised by the Step into Life charity foundation. Vladislav Tretiak, the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF), was the guest of honour at the competition, participating in the opening and awards ceremonies, speaking with the young athletes, their parents and coaches and offering recommendations for the further development of adaptive hockey in Moscow.
RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:
"Our duty is to be involved in the problems of our neighbours and be compassionate to those who so desperately need support. For children with special needs, sport is an important aspect of socialisation, and their families are given the opportunity to lead active lives, celebrate their children's successes and expand their social circle.
"Generosity, empathy and a desire to do good need to be implemented. We're constantly working hard in order to increase potential partners' interest in supporting various types of hockey, including adaptive hockey. Our future development programs include increasing the number of teams. Overall, efforts in this line of work serve as an excellent example of corporate social responsibility and productive charitable work."
