Roman Rotenberg: "We are exchanging experiences with the NHL"
Today on the 20th September, the Russian Ice Hockey Federation's first vice-president Roman Rotenberg took part in a press-conference inside Toronto's Air Canada Centre.
Roman Rotenberg, RIHF first vice-president:
- The matter concerning the NHL's participation in the Olympic Games is being discussed between us, the IIHF president Rene Fasel and the National Hockey League. However, there is no concrete news as yet. If we talk about the World Cup, then we have already revealed that we would be prepared to hold the tournament in Russia. We are ready to host the whole competition, or part of it, at the highest level. Today, we will meet with Bill Daly and Gary Bettman. We are open to dialogue.
- From a marketing point of view, what can be taken away from this World Cup for Russian ice hockey?
- We pointed out a large number of details. For me, the main thing are the rules. This concerns a clear allocation of responsibilites and the ability for the media to speak to players. Also, our North American colleagues can take something away from the way we work too. It's really important that we are one big ice hockey family that is developing the sport together.
