Friendly matches in America. Russia W - Connecticut Whale - 2:3

28.09.2016

Alexei Chistyakov's Russian women's national team played their fourth friendly match in America against Connecticut Whale.

Full of confidence after beating the New York Riveters, Russia's girls gave a positive showing. After Lyudmila Belyakova struck twice for the second match in a row, it looked as though Russia were on their way to another victory, but unfortunately, a late collapse enabled Connecticut to take a dramatic 3:2 victory.

Russia's final match of this American tour will take place on the 29th of September against Connecticut.

Lyudmila Belyakova, Russian women's national team:

- Thanks to my teammates for helping me score my goals. Sadly, despite leading for almost the whole match, we couldn't hold on to the win. We will work on our penalty kill, try to make less fouls and take advantage of our chances. I have played in the American league, I know a lot of the players, but in comparison to last season, the rosters have changed a lot. Given the fact that I have already played a few games for Tornado, I have already got used to Russian ice hockey again.
