Russian-Chinese Youth Games. China U17 - Russia U17 - 0:35

08.12.2016

The under 17 Russian national team played China in the first match of the Russian-Chinese Youth Games.

It turned out to be an incredible day for our team, as the players put on a real show. No mercy was shown to China, and with Alexander Zhabreev and Daniil Gizatullin both scoring six each, Russia eventually won 35:0!

Igor Efimov, Russia U17 head coach:

- The guys stuck to the game plan. We worked over all game components before the upcoming Four Nations in Switzerland. Despite being a lot worse than us, China tried their best. They ran hard and didn't give up. China need to train more, and then they will become more competitive. Today, two born in 2001 made their debuts. In Alexander Khovanov's absence, Anton Malyshev was captain. He coped with his task.

Anton Malyshev, Russia U17 captain:

- It wasn't a difficult game, we did well not to relax. China only had one or two chances. They didn't give up, but we wanted to score more and more goals. I think that this match will help China develop for the future.

- When 21:0 up, what did the coach tell you?

- He told us not to relax! We gave our all, and everything worked out. We will prepare for the Four Nations in Switzerland.

- How will this victory help you ahead of future matches with stronger opponents?

- We won't take our foot off the gas, we have good coaches.

Danil Zinovyev, Russia U17 forward:

- I and Artemiy Knyazev made our first appearances for the national team here. It's was easy fitting into the team, the other guys welcomed us in with open arms. Today's game went our way, we took advantage of three powerplays and even scored on the penalty kill. China don't have enough quality yet.
