Vladimir Filatov: "The guys fought for their country's honour"
The Russian under 16 national team head coach Vladimir Filatov summed up the recent friendly series against the Czech Republic:
Russia U16 head coach Vladimir Filatov:
- I am happy that we took three victories in as many games. I want to thank the guys for their hard work.
- In the final match, the teams racked up 100 penalty minutes.
- When the score was 5:0, the Czechs stopped playing ice hockey. Nevertheless, it's good that our guys didn't bow down to their provocation. They stood up for their country's honour. In the end, we won both the match and the fights.
- Who impressed you as a coach?
- All of the players worked to their best, no one was bad. All of them did a good job.
- The third fixture took place on Russian ice hockey's 70th anniversary.
- In the morning, we showed the players a special video dedicated to the celebration. They listened to what Russian ice hockey legends had to say. I think that it made them feel even more patriotic.
- What plans does the team have for the near future?
- In February, we will prepare for the Youth Olympic festival and the Four Nations.
