Interviews after the Russia U20 Whites - Russia U18 match in Sochi

26.05.2022
After the Russia U20 Whites defeated the under 18 Russian national team by a large score of 6:2 at the 2022 Black Sea Cup in Sochi, the game's participants shared their emotions.
Senior coach of the Russian junior national team Vladimir Filatov:
- We played better than we expected. To be honest, I didn't expect us to win 6:2. It was a tough game, the opponents played well.
Russia U18 head coach Igor Efimov:
- It was a positive first period from our point of view in which we managed to score a goal. In our opinion, our second goal was a clean one too. I liked the guys' character today, we are building for the future. I don't think that we lost out in terms of the battles on the ice.
Russia U18 forward Maxim Velikov:
- It was difficult for us, we have to remember that the opponents have players a couple of years older than us. Despite that fact, we wanted to achieve a different result today.
Russia U20 forward Viktor Neuchev:
- Overall, we played well. Yes, the opponents had a good first period, but subsequently the fact that we're older played a crucial role in how the game panned out. The coaches said the right words after the opening frame and we started to improve.
Russia U18 forward Artemiy Nizameev:
- Personally, I don't think that it was a great performance from us. Not all of us managed to play well after travelling here, and it's tough to quickly switch from club to international ice hockey. The speed and tactics here are completely different.
