Czech Hockey Games. Russia - Finland - 0:1
In the Czech Republic, the senior Russian national team took on Finland for the second Czech Hockey Games match. Head coach Oleg Znarok made a couple of changes to the roster, notably making forward Vadim Shipachyov captain. Andrei Vasilevskiy and Joonas Korpisalo were the starting goalkeepers.
Russia made a positive start, with Vadim Shipachyov missing a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock when clean through. However, as time rolled on, Finland began to create chances themselves. Miro Aaltonen should have scored in the second period, but despite Andrei Vasilevskiy being out of position, he could only smack the pipe with an empty net gaping.
Unfortunately, Finland did eventually beat Andrei Vasilevskiy in the third frame. Valtteri Filppula scored the goal, taking advantage of a juicy rebound. 0:1, Russia lose to the Finns.
Our team will take to the ice tomorrow against hosts the Czech Republic.
