Friendly match. Russia - Belarus - 5:2

In the first of two planned friendly matches, the senior Russian national team outlasted Belarus in Tula, emerging victorious by a score of 5:2.

Nikita Tertyshny opened the scoring in the opening frame. In the second, Marat Khairullin had given our team the second advantage after the Belarusians had equalised, but the opponents got back on level terms for the second time before the stanza had reached its completion.

The decisive moment arrived midway through the third period.

After speeding beyond the Belarusian defence on the left wing, Fyodor Svechkov beat the opposing goalkeeper with a rasping wrister on the counter-attack.

In the closing stages, Belarus opted to pull their goaltender for the extra skater, but that only resulted in Russian goalkeeper Dmitry Nikolaev and Khairullin hitting the empty net.

The two teams will compete each other again tomorrow at 16:00 local time.
