Reaction following Russia Whites' Black Sea Cup win against Switzerland

26.05.2017

Russia Whites head coach Yury Babenko:

- There were both good and bad moments in this game. We have things to work on, this training camp wasn't particularly long. Given that it's already the end of May, the players' physical condition isn't the best. Nevertheless, we witnessed a lot of positive things too. Some of our lines are effective, we won't change them during this tournament. It's good that we scored twice on the powerplay.

Russia Whites defenseman Maxim Afanasyev:

- The Black Sea Cup is a great opportunity for all of us to show what we're made of. Switzerland are decent opponents, they can run fast. It was difficult at the start, but we managed to get into the match. For my goal, I skated towards the middle of the ice and my shot went in.

Russia Whites defenseman Dmitry Samorukov:

- This was my first game at this level. During our training camp, we worked over a lot of tactical matters which helped us in this match. My line is made up of players from the under 18 team, however at U20 level, tactics are more important. I scored my goal on the powerplay. I am always happy to play for Russia, I want to show my best qualities at the Black Sea Cup and earn a spot on the World Junior Championship roster.
