Interviews after Russia Reds' victory against Latvia
Russia Reds head coach Oleg Bratash:
- I have contrasting emotions from this game. However, at this tournament, we will work on the players becoming an effective team together. Except Grigory Dronov, none of our players competed at the previous World Junior Championship. Nevertheless, the Black Sea Cup is an important part of World Junior Championship preparations. We have the opportunity to look at 50 players.
Russia Reds defenseman Grigory Dronov:
- We relaxed in the second period, allowing Latvia to put the pressure on. However, our mindset was better for the third frame. Their penalties helped us, and they were slow at the start of the third stanza when we scored our fourth goal. Our main goal at this competition is to prepare for the World Junior Championship.
Russia Reds forward Dmitry Sokolov:
- For my goal, I simply had to hit the net, my teammates set me up brilliantly. Overall, we started well and managed to stick to the coaches' game plan. Unfortunately, we became tired in the second period and gave the opponents a chance to score. In future games, it's important to keep to our tactical system. We all want to impress the coaches, it's a chance to show what we're made of before the World Championship.
