Alexei Zhamnov: "I'm sure that the guys will improve"
09.02.2022
Head coach of the ROC men's ice hockey team Alexei Zhamnov shared his opinions following the slender 1:0 victory against Switzerland in the first match of the 2022 Olympic Games.
Head coach Alexei Zhamnov:
- The guys did a great job to hold on to the winning scoreline. It's difficult when you have to play shorthanded for eight minutes at such tournaments, the players were tense and it didn't help that we hadn't played any games for a long time. We want our players to shoot more instead of always making passes which actually aren't required. What did I say to Anton Slepyshev? That he needs to keep a cool head. He understands the situation himself, he apologised when skating back to the bench. We want to play like we did at the Channel One Cup in December. Overall, I'm sure that the guys will improve.
