Vadim Shipachyov: "This feels like a second pre-season"

At the Novogorsk training complex, a two-way training match took place, with ROC-1 defeating ROC-2 4:3 in regulation time. However, ROC-2 subsequently scored in the planned overtime period and won the ensuing penalty shootout 2:0.

ROC forward Vadim Shipachyov:

- We were given lists in which to write down our options for the team captain and assistant captains. I wrote down Nikita Gusev, Vyacheslav Voynov and Yegor Yakovlev. It's a huge responsibility for me to be the captain at the Olympics, I will do my best in order to help the team in the best way possible. I'm working on my English too as I will need to speak with the referees as captain. Our time here in Novogorsk has felt like a second pre-season training camp, we're working hard and training well. We don't have any friendly games? We are playing in training matches, and the likes of Sweden and Finland are in the same boat. The opening ceremony? I haven't received an invitation for that yet!
