In a friendly match ahead of the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, the under 20 Russian national team came up short against Canada, losing 4:6 to the hosts in Edmonton.
After going down by four goals in the first period, Nikita Chibrikov, Matvei Michkov (2) and Alexander Pashin did all get Russia on the board. Yaroslav Askarov was the starting goalkeeper, before Yegor Guskov subsequently replaced him for the third frame.
At 00:30 Moscow time on December 27, our players will face Sweden in the opening game of the tournament.
