Alexei Zhamnov speaks after the concluding match of the Channel One Cup
19.12.2021
Following the dramatic concluding match of the 2021 Channel One Cup in Moscow against Finland, senior Russian national team head coach Alexei Zhamnov shared his emotions with the media.
Senior Russian national team head coach Alexei Zhamnov:
- The guys are feeling a bit disappointed, they wanted to win. We had a chance in overtime when playing 4-on-3. It's really difficult to play against the Finns, they like to compete in a defensive manner with an emphasis on their counter-attacks. Our goal was to score the winning marker in overtime when we swapped our goalkeeper for the extra skater, but we lost our concentration. When you play in four matches in five days, fatigue does take its toll. I am happy with our players' efforts throughout the competition, they tried to follow our game plan.
