Reaction after playing Finland at the 2021 Women's World Championship

26.08.2021
Following the fourth match of the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship against Finland, senior Russian women's national team head coach Evgeny Bobariko, defender Anna Shibanova and forward Ilona Markova all shared their opinions:

Head coach Evgeny Bobariko:

- We started with focus, but then we lost our concentration and made individual mistakes. We made changes during the first break, and we did subsequently increase the tempo of our game after making changes to our lines. However, when we are presented with opportunities, we're not scoring. You can't win if you don't score. We will now calmly analyse our group-stage matches and prepare for the quarter-finals.

Defender Anna Shibanova:

- We played well during the second and third periods, we didn't allow Finland to have space. The problem for us is that we are switching off after conceding the first goal, I don't know why this is happening. We have the same mindset for all opponents. After the chaos of the first period, we spoke in the dressing room and made improvements, but we have to start scoring goals. You can't beat anyone if you don't score.

Forward Ilona Markova:

- I think that we had enough chances today, but we couldn't use them. A missed chance is equal to a conceded goal, in my opinion. At times, we are lacking coolness when we have opportunities to score. We have to get through this period and treat it as a useful experience.
