Reaction after playing Canada at the 2021 Women's World Championship

23.08.2021
Following the second match of the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship against Canada (1:6), senior Russian women's national team head coach Evgeny Bobariko and forwards Olga Sosina and Sofiya Lifatova shared their emotions:

Head coach Evgeny Bobariko:

- We played well throughout the maiden 25 minutes, we tried to attack on the counter. However, Canada improved in the second period, they used the factor of having their bench in the attacking zone and didn't allow us to move out of defence. We changed our lines in the second break, and I think that those alterations helped us to perform better in the third frame. Both of our goaltenders were strong in net.

Forward Olga Sosina:

- We always play to win, no matter who we're playing against. In the first period, we did have our opportunities, but we couldn't score. I celebrated my goal emotionally? It's always nice to score against strong opponents, but it's a shame that the goal arrived so late. We want to achieve more than just scoring goals in games like this.

Forward Sofiya Lifatova:

- I didn't feel very nervous before the match started, everyone dreams of playing against one of the world's best teams. We have good mutual understanding in my line, we play together at club level. The last time when I felt such emotions was at the World Junior Championship, when we won the bronze medal.
