In the opening match of the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship, the senior Russian women's national team defeated Switzerland in a tough encounter, emerging victorious by a score of 3:1.
The Swiss initially took the lead in the 11th minute of play. Nevertheless, Russia subsequently took a firm grip of proceedings midway through the second stanza, as Valeriya Pavlova and Viktoriya Kulishova tallied two markers in quick succession to give our team the lead.
Maria Batalova sealed the deal with a third goal in the 58th minute.
Our players will now prepare to take on host nation Canada tomorrow at 01:00 Moscow time in Calgary.
